Yesterday I had connection issues. It was ironic how I chose to update the firm ware of my router at the same time Microsoft was sending a critical update. Often in complex systems, more then one thing changes. In the future, I will make sure I don't update anything on a Wednesday to avoid such a problem. Read more!!

Never forget to unplug the power cable from the router first, then the cable modem. The cable modem is the one with the old school TV cable going into it. After a short time of a minute or so, you reconnect the cable modem and wait for the on-line light to come on. After that, you power up the router. That has the fancy telephone cable called a network cable. Once that is going. Turn off and on you computer. That should fix most problems. If not, consider you might be having a bad day and call the cable company.
